Chaptr — Terms of Use

These terms govern your use of the Chaptr app, operated by Côme Delamare (sole trader, Malta). By using Chaptr you agree to them. If you obtained the app through the Apple App Store, Apple's standard licensed-application terms also apply.

1. The service

Chaptr generates interactive, narrated audiobooks from ideas you provide, using artificial intelligence. Stories, images and narration are generated on demand; generation times and results may vary, and occasional failures can occur — in which case a chapter can be regenerated.

2. Your account

You are responsible for the activity on your account and for keeping your credentials secure. You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country) to use Chaptr.

3. Subscriptions

• Chaptr offers auto-renewing subscriptions (weekly, or yearly with a 7-day free trial). The exact price is always shown in the app before purchase.
• Payment is charged to your Apple ID account. The subscription renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period (or the free trial).
• You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your device's Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
• Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription. Refunds are handled by Apple under Apple's terms.

4. Your content and generated stories

• You keep ownership of the ideas you submit. You grant us the license needed to process them (generation, storage, playback, safety review) to provide the service.
• You may enjoy the stories generated for you for personal, non-commercial use.
• AI-generated stories are fiction. They may occasionally contain inaccuracies or resemble other works; they are not advice of any kind.

5. Acceptable use

You may not use Chaptr to request or create content that is illegal, that sexualizes minors, that sexualizes real identifiable people, that glorifies violence or hatred against real groups, that promotes self-harm, or that provides instructions for real-world wrongdoing. Automated safety checks may refuse such requests, and we may remove content or suspend accounts that attempt them. Dark themes, villains and mature fiction between adults are welcome — Chaptr is a storytelling app, not a manual.

6. Reporting content

If a generated story seems inappropriate, you can report it directly from the app. We review reports and may remove content that violates these terms.

7. Intellectual property

The Chaptr app, its design, characters (including Chappy), narration voices and technology remain our property or that of our licensors. These terms grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive license to use the app on Apple devices you own or control.

8. Disclaimers and liability

Chaptr is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, and our total liability for any claim related to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.

9. Termination

You may stop using Chaptr at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. Sections 4, 7 and 8 survive termination.

10. Changes

We may update these terms as the service evolves; material changes will be posted on this page with a new date. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.

11. Governing law and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of Malta, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protections of your country of residence.
