Chaptr — Privacy Policy

Chaptr ("we", "us") is an interactive AI-audiobook app operated by Côme Delamare (sole trader, Malta). This policy explains what data we collect, why, and what your rights are. The short version: we collect the minimum needed to create and play your stories, we don't run ads, and we don't track you across other apps or websites.

1. Data we collect

• Account data — your email address and a user identifier, when you create an account. Before you sign up, the app may use an anonymous session so your first story can be generated; it is linked to your account if you register.
• Your content — the story ideas you type, the narrative choices you make, and the stories, images and audio generated from them.
• App preferences — settings such as reading mode or text size, stored locally on your device.
• Purchase state — whether you have an active subscription. Payments are processed entirely by Apple; we never see your payment details.

We do not collect your location, contacts, photos, advertising identifiers, or any data used for cross-app tracking.

2. How we use your data

• To generate your stories: your ideas and choices are processed by our AI service providers to write the text, illustrate it and narrate it.
• To provide your library: your books, chapters and audio are stored so you can listen to them again on your device.
• To keep the platform safe: story ideas pass automated content-safety checks, and reported content may be reviewed.
• To operate subscriptions, provide support and comply with the law.

We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.

3. Service providers

We rely on a small number of processors to run Chaptr. They receive only what is needed to perform their function:

• Supabase — account authentication and database (your account and books).
• Anthropic — writes story text and performs content-safety checks on ideas.
• OpenAI — generates chapter and cover illustrations.
• RunPod — converts story text to narrated audio.
• Cloudflare — stores generated audio and images.
• Trigger.dev — orchestrates the generation pipeline.
• Apple — processes all payments and subscriptions.

Per the API terms of our AI providers, content submitted through their APIs is not used to train their models.

4. Retention and deletion

Your account data and content are kept for as long as your account exists. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us at the address below; we will delete it within 30 days, except where the law requires us to keep specific records.

5. Your rights

Depending on where you live (including under the GDPR if you are in the EU/EEA), you have the right to access, correct, export, restrict or delete your personal data, and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. To exercise any of these rights, email us.

6. Children

Chaptr is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. Content settings ("vibes") are chosen by users; automated safety checks apply to all story generation.

7. Security

Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (TLS) and stored with access controls (including row-level security on our database). No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your data we will notify you as required by law.

8. Changes

We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a new "last updated" date.
